STANDING SIDE BEND WITH REACH

Reps: 12 each side

  • Stand next to a counter or chair and use this to support one upper extremity.

  • Take a small step back with your outside leg.

  • Side bend towards the counter/chair and away from the outside leg, reaching your finger tips high.

  • You should feel a stretch in your side body, lats and abdomen.

  • Take a few moments to settle into that stretch. Send a few inhales/expansion into the side body during the stretch. Exhale and just let those tissue recoil - no contracting.

  • Return back to starting position.

  • There should be no painful pulling in the incision. A gentle stretch is okay.

Modifications:

  • Modify range of stretch as tolerated.
