ASSISTED SIT UP WITH BAND

Reps: 8

  • Lie on your back with your knees bent. Hold on to a long resistance band and anchor it securely.

  • Inhale and expand the ribcage to prep for the movement.

  • Exhale as you draw in your core and slowly lower down to the floor with control. Use the band to assist you.

  • Inhale and reset once you are on the floor.

  • Exhale and draw in your core as you sit up. Use the band to assist you.

  • Monitor and make sure you are drawing the core IN vs. pushing OUT.

Modifications:

  • Decreasing the range of motion. Build up to going all the way down to the floor.

  • Use a band with increased tension for more assistance.

  • Perform an eccentric assisted sit up: perform the same lowering down, but substitute the sit up by rolling to your side and using your arms to push up.
